Committed to Cybersecurity
In recent years, the financial system, public organizations and service companies in general have seen a significant increase in attacks, with ransomware being one of the most widely used techniques. This malware prevents the use of the equipment or systems it infects by encrypting, locking or scrambling files. Next, the cybercriminal demands ransom in exchange for returning access, thereby impacting the infrastructure and reputation of the company or institution.
In addition, customers are constantly threatened by social engineering techniques such as phishing (fraud via email), smishing (malicious text and WhatsApp messages) and vishing (deception through phone calls), along with other crimes such as cell phone theft, which violate their security and the safeguarding of their information.
In this context, Banco de Chile’s Cybersecurity Division addresses these threats from different areas in order to protect the bank's assets and the information of customers, employees and suppliers, as well as information assets. Furthermore, management of technological, cybersecurity and information security risks, in addition to strengthening awareness, are all embedded into its strategy.
